We are calling on families to head outside to enjoy outdoor and Nature-filled bedtime stories together. From small balconies to gardens, urban parks to village greens together we can strengthen connections with Nature, one another, and the ecosystems we rely on. BOOK SHELF NATURE HUNT
Do a BOOKSHELF NATURE HUNT at home or a local library. Hunt for books and stories where Nature hides - maybe within the plot, setting, illustrations or characters? Children's stories are a place where Nature still thrives and they are even better then you enjoy them outside.
BEDTIME STORY CLUB
Team up with friends, neighbours or classmates and organise a BEDTIME STORY CLUB meeting somewhere outside under the sky to share Nature inspired stories, reading and outdoor time. Why not bring a teddy and put your favourite PJs on - grown ups too!
FIND YOUR FAMILY TREE
Put down some outdoor roots with FIND YOUR FAMILY TREE. Explore your local area or garden and choose a special tree where you and your family can enjoy outdoor bedtime story time. Did you know trees communicate to each other through their root systems? Every tree has a story to tell.
OUTDOOR BEDTIME STORY DEN
Get creative and build an OUTDOOR STORY DEN. Use things you can find and carry - sticks, brooms, chairs, bedsheets, pegs and pillows. Make your den fun, warm and comfy. Do 'the shake test' to make sure its ready for an outdoor bedtime story.
GLAMPOLINE A TRAMPOLINE
Do you know someone with a trampoline? If you do you could GLAMPOLINE A TRAMPOLINE turning it into a magical bedtime story space full of cosy blankets, cushions and fabulous Nature-inspired stories. Bounce your way into the campaign.
HAVE A NOVEL ADVENTURE
Dive into a Nature-inspired novel or chapter book and embark on a real NOVEL ADVENTURE. Take your time exploring outdoor spaces where you can enjoy both your story and the beauty of Nature beyond four walls. Plus, you can combine with our 30 STORIES 30 NIGHTS challenge too!

About the Campaign
Stories By Moonlight™ is about the stories we choose to tell to our children - and ourselves - regarding our role in the world. Through our outdoor bedtime-story challenges we are building a movement of families, schools and organisations rebuilding child and parent bonds with Nature and environmental care, whilst raising awareness of the vital role Nature-based time plays in maintaining health, wellbeing and our collective future.
Stories By Moonlight is exactly the kind of project needed in our cities; a project placing the green spaces that are so fundamental to our wellbeing and ecosystems within the lives and imaginations of communities and families through an exciting, emotive, creative and enriching experience.
